Sherbrook Community Gardens

198 Sherbrook

22 in-ground community plots self-managed by 25+ gardeners

Sherbrook Community Gardens began in 1991 and has been gardened by various groups and residents over the years.  The property was purchased in 2001 by WBDC with the support of Neighbourhoods Alive! to prevent it from becoming surface parking.

A community consultation design charrette was held in March 2008 to develop a community vision and long term use plan for the land. The outcome of the consultation is a plan for mixed use development, including a community garden, social enterprise and low income housing.

Over 25 gardeners work hard to maintain these beautiful gardens, the 10 ft frontage is maintained by the West Broadway BIZ.

Water is accessed at 2 rain barrels next to the garden’s storage shed and there are 3 compost bins along the south fence for all neighbours to use.
